About 1,000 low-income residents of seven communes in southern Da Nang received free medical examinations on the morning of October 24, Báo Đà Nẵng reported. The checkups were held at the Tiên Phước Regional Health Center.

They were organised by the Da Nang Fellow-Villagers Association in Ho Chi Minh City with the Tiên Phước regional liaison board. Nearly 20 doctors from Chợ Rẫy Hospital, 115 People's Hospital and the University of Medicine and Pharmacy at Ho Chi Minh City volunteered.

Residents of Tiên Phước, Sơn Cẩm Hà, Thạnh Bình, Lãnh Ngọc, Trà My, Trà Tân and Phú Ninh were served, among them older people, ethnic minority residents and poor households. They received general examinations, tests of key health indicators, advice on common illnesses, prescriptions and free medicine where needed. Doctors also gave guidance on preventing respiratory, heart and blood-pressure problems as the weather turns cold.

Organisers handed out 750 sets of warm clothing and 350 portions of formula milk.
