Two fishing boats caught fire at the Thọ Quang fishing port in Da Nang's Sơn Trà ward on the morning of 3 November, with no one reported aboard, Báo Đà Nẵng reports.
The paper says Sơn Trà Border Guard Station received a report from residents at about 9:45 a.m. Da Nang Border Guard Command sent 20 officers and soldiers with two response craft, and worked with river firefighting and rescue police to stop the blaze spreading to nearby boats. The fire was out by 9:50 a.m.
One vessel, an 18.6-metre gillnet boat registered ĐNa-90863 TS, lost its entire cabin. The other, an 18.6-metre hook-and-line boat registered ĐNa-91292 TS, was partly damaged.
The paper says initial reports found nobody on board either vessel. Authorities are still counting the damage and investigating the cause, and no cause has been given.
