Lam Dong authorities have announced a master plan for the Da Lat urban area to 2050 that includes a tram network of about 101 kilometres, Tuoi Tre reports. The plan was prepared by the National Institute of Architecture and announced by the provincial People's Committee.

The priority line would link Da Lat station with Lien Khuong airport and is to be studied for the period before 2030. Further lines from the city centre to Suoi Vang, Lang Biang, Tuyen Lam lake and Love Valley are pencilled in for after 2030.

A separate proposal would restore the Thap Cham to Da Lat railway, which would connect the highland city with the south-central coast. The only line running now is a tourist service between Da Lat and Trai Mat, about 6.7 kilometres.

Planners say the aim is to reduce pressure on the historic centre and the city's dependence on existing roads. The report describes the network as a proposal and does not say whether it has been approved or give a cost.
