Every one of the 11 groups of goods and services in Da Nang's consumer price basket cost more in October than a year earlier, according to the city statistics office's October and 10-month economic report, as relayed by Tuoi Tre on November 5.

Housing-related costs pulled hardest. The group covering housing, electricity, water, fuel and building materials rose 8.81% year on year and added about 2 percentage points to the overall index. The report attributes this mainly to higher rents, maintenance materials and home repair services.

Within that group, rents rose by almost 9% and home repair services by more than 12%. Electricity and water costs were also higher than a year earlier.

Fuel and transport

Transport costs followed fuel. Petrol and diesel prices were up more than 33% on the same month of 2025, which the statistics office says pushed up travel and vehicle maintenance costs and fed into freight and production costs.

Price pressure also showed up in everyday goods, the report says, though the figures Tuoi Tre relayed single out housing and transport as the largest drivers.

Ten months in

Over the first 10 months of 2026, Da Nang's consumer price index rose 5.01% compared with the same period of 2025. That is higher than the 3.41% rise recorded for the first 10 months of last year. Housing and utilities, transport, and food and catering were named as the groups with the biggest effect on the overall figure.

The statistics office puts the pressure down to world oil price swings, which raised transport and production costs, and to higher input material costs that lifted the price of finished goods and services.

For renters, the reported near-9% rise in rents is the figure most likely to be felt directly. The report does not break rents down by district or property type, so it should be read as a citywide average rather than a guide to any single neighbourhood.
