Da Nang has dissolved 122 foreign-language centres since the start of the year, according to figures the city's Department of Education and Training gave on 3 November, as reported by Tuoi Tre. The department said the centres no longer met the conditions needed to keep operating.

The number is far above earlier years. Tuoi Tre reports that 10 centres were dissolved in 2024 and 19 in 2025. Over the same periods, inspectors visited 16 centres in 2024, 18 in 2025 and 10 between 1 January and 30 October 2026.

The figures came in a press statement prompted by a case at one English centre in the city, where police are investigating how it described its programme to parents. According to Tuoi Tre, the centre's licence covered only English classes for children, not the general school curriculum. The department did not set out further details of the investigation, which is still under way.

The department told local authorities to review foreign-language and IT centres in their areas and report violations. It also said it will work with the finance department, the social insurance agency and the tax authority to check which centres are still active and dissolve those that are no longer registered.

Under the new requirements, every centre must file a report every six months covering enrolment, training results, teachers and staff, curriculum and tuition. Localities were also asked to review and support students from the centre at the heart of the case so their learning is not disrupted, although Tuoi Tre does not describe specific arrangements.

For parents, the practical advice implied by the department's steps is to check what a centre is actually licensed to teach before paying tuition. The department's inspection lists and any complaints can be raised with the ward or commune office.
