The coastal road linking Ngũ Hành Sơn with Hội An floods for almost a kilometre after heavy rain, and a lasting fix depends on a drainage project that is still being reviewed, Báo Đà Nẵng reports. The stretch is on Lạc Long Quân (ĐT.603B) in Điện Bàn Đông ward.
The paper says the road has flooded for years and did so again in the heavy rain of early October 2026. A tourist-bus driver, Nguyễn Văn Cường, told the paper that the flooding stalled many motorbikes and made driving difficult for cars. The nearby ĐT.607B also developed potholes after the rain.
According to the Department of Construction, the drainage system is more than 20 years old and has deteriorated. Many cross-drains are buried, and the upstream and downstream ends and outlets are blocked, which cuts the system's capacity. The department also pointed to heavy trucks serving nearby projects as a cause of potholes.
Between 15 and 17 October the department had the road-infrastructure management centre patch potholes. Contractors were digging and fitting temporary drains at the flooded spots, with completion expected before 30 October. Short-term plans include clearing drains and inlets, posting response teams and considering mobile pumps at the deepest points.
The long-term answer is a project to complete drainage while widening ĐT.603B from Điện Bàn to Hội An. The former Quảng Nam provincial council approved the investment in principle in Resolution 65/NQ-HĐND of 9 December 2022. After the administrative merger, Da Nang's city government is asking departments to review and propose how to proceed.
No start date or budget for the project has been announced.
