Da Nang's new Innovation Center began operating on November 1, the city's Department of Science and Technology announced on November 2, according to the startup support portal startupdanang.vn.

The centre merges three existing bodies: the Da Nang Innovation Startup Support Center, the Da Nang Biotechnology Center, and the Da Nang Center for Microchip Design and Artificial Intelligence Research and Training. The portal says the combined unit is meant to concentrate resources on research, technology development and support for innovative startups, and to raise the city's standing in the national innovation ecosystem.

Nguyễn Viết Toàn is the director, with Võ Đức Anh, Đào Thị Thanh Thảo and Đặng Ngọc Minh as deputy directors. The page lists the first tasks as settling the organisation, handing over finances, assets and records, and drafting operating regulations. Because the centre's offices are spread across several sites, it also plans to use digital tools to manage them.

The department's directives set a goal of helping Da Nang reach the top three to five localities in the national Provincial Innovation Index. The centre will also prepare its budget for the coming year and pursue research projects and commissioned science and technology work. The portal did not give the date or number of the establishment decision, or a headquarters address for the new centre.
