Visitors to Hoi An's ancient town are running about 20 percent below last year, Tuổi Trẻ reported on October 26. Ticket sales for October 1 to 20 fell by roughly the same margin, according to figures the paper attributes to the town's managing authority.

Tour operators told the paper that images of the 2025 floods led some travel firms to leave Hoi An out of this year's central Vietnam itineraries. Conflict and instability abroad have also hurt European arrivals, an important market for the town. Visitors to Da Nang itself are still up on last year, the report says.

Operators expect a rebound. Nguyễn Trọng Tuấn, director of Du lịch Hội An DMC, said bookings dipped recently but are trending above last year for November and December, as travellers who avoided the storm season "make up" for it at the end and start of the year.

The city has asked its tourism promotion centre to organise events in Hoi An. Hoi An, Hội An Đông and Hội An Tây wards have been told to step up checks on touting, harassment, overcharging and unlicensed street vendors, and to monitor price displays, parking fees, food safety and noise in the ancient town and the Bảy Mẫu coconut forest. Plans also include a visitor complaints hotline.
