Electric-vehicle charging stations now have their own electricity prices, VietNamNet reported on 4 November, citing Decision 2892/QD-BCT of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, which EVN published that day. The rates apply from 1 November and exclude value-added tax.

At medium voltage and above (over 1kV) a charging operator pays VND3,758 per kWh at peak hours, VND2,549 at normal hours and VND1,534 off-peak. At low voltage (up to 1kV) the rates are VND4,212 at peak, VND2,700 normal and VND1,620 off-peak.

Peak hours, set by an April decision, run from 17:30 to 22:30 Monday to Saturday, with no peak on Sunday. Off-peak hours are midnight to 6:00 every day. The ministry says chargers are priced between production and business tariffs and can shift charging away from peak hours to ease the grid.

The wider tariff has other changes. EVN deputy general director Nguyen Dinh Phuoc said the new tariff folds the old voltage levels into three main groups, adds a group buying at 220kV and above, and creates a separate pricing mechanism for tourist accommodation as well as for charging stations. The peak and off-peak scheme applies only to production and business customers; households stay on the five-tier tariff.

Business customers pay the highest rate, up to VND5,313 per kWh, almost 1.5 times the highest production rate, VietNamNet reported.
