Vietnam Airlines has launched a direct service between Ahmedabad in western India and Hanoi, the national carrier's fifth destination in India, VOV World reports. The inaugural flight left Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport on 3 November.

The route operates four times a week. With it, Vietnam Airlines flies 25 round trips a week between Vietnam and India.

The airline's chief representative in India, Nguyen Trung Hieu, said India has grown into a key market and that carriers on both sides have added capacity after recent changes to the bilateral air services agreement. From mid-December 2026 Vietnam Airlines plans to introduce daily flights between Delhi and Hanoi and between Bangalore and Hanoi, he said.

India is among the ten largest source markets for international visitors to Vietnam, according to the report. It adds that Sun PhuQuoc Airways plans a nonstop Phu Quoc–Ahmedabad service from 2 December, with five flights a week and a journey of about five hours 25 minutes.

The report does not give fares, flight times or the aircraft type for the Hanoi–Ahmedabad route. Travellers should check the airline's booking site for schedules and for onward connections to Da Nang and other Vietnamese cities.
